Nokia VP Victor Saeijs has this week disclosed the six launch markets for the vanguard devices born out of the Microsoft-Nokia partnership. France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UK will all count themselves as hosts to Nokia’s Windows Phone debut , but the company’s mother nation of Finland has strangely been left out in the cold. Knowing Nokia, there’s no doubt that once the WP7 handsets are ready they’ll find themselves swiftly available worldwide, but if you care to be among the very first to own one, you’ll be wanting to visit Europe’s western shores — preferably some time before the year’s through, as Mr. Saeijs also reaffirmed that there will indeed be a Nokia Windows Phone coming out in 2011. US Cellular yanks curtains away from HTC 7 Pro, available June 14th for $200
June 14th, 2011
jedwan Well, that was quick, wasn’t it? After US Cellular recently announced its upcoming smartphone lineup , its very first Windows Phone — an HTC model — was ready for a summer launch with or without an official name. We now know the mystery device is the CDMA version of the HTC 7 Pro , a phone that Sprint lovers know better as the Arrive . Available tomorrow for $200 with contract after $100 mail-in rebate, the full tilt-up QWERTY slider with 5 megapixel shooter and 16GB internal storage is a bit on the spendy side. Oh, and it requires a monthly data plan. Did you just hear that noise? That was the sound of your wallet trying to hide from you. Full press release after the break. Managing Hotmail Calendar on LG Quantum Windows 7 Phone While Changing Time Zones
June 12th, 2011
jedwan I recently flew to Wisconsin (Central Time Zone) from New Jersey (Eastern Time Zone). When I arrived I immediately noticed that all my appointments on my calendar displayed on my LG Quantum shifted themselves exactly one hour earlier. I called ATT Customer Care and spoke to two different techs. Both put me on hold while they contacted LG. LG had two suggested solutions. I was informed that this phone automatically sets the time zone since it monitors your location. The user is unable to do this manually. The first “solution” was for me to log on to my Windows Live Account in Hotmail and change my time zone setting on Hotmail to Central Time. I followed these instructions and the calendar on my mobile phone did not correct itself. The second “solution” (which was no solution at all) was to reset my phone to factory settings thereby erasing all of my data. I could then re-sync my phone to my hard drive (which I did not have access to at the time) as well as to Hotmail. I was told that there was no guarantee that the second solution would work. I decided that it was best to take no action. When I returned to New Jersey after a week my calendar corrected itself and all my appointments moved to the correct time. Has anyone experienced this same problem?

Windows XP users will finally need to upgrade to enter the iCloud
June 11th, 2011
admin This got a bit lost amid all the WWDC 2011 hubbub earlier this week, but Apple quietly delivered a bit of bad news to steadfast Windows XP users with its iCloud announcement. Unlike its MobileMe service and recent versions of iTunes, which have somewhat surprisingly supported Windows XP all this time, use of Apple’s iCloud service on a PC will require either Windows Vista or Windows 7. Of course, XP users shouldn’t feel too bad about being left behind — as TUAW notes, Apple’s only extended support for the Mac version of iTunes 10.3 back to OS X 10.5, which was just released in 2007 (when Windows XP was already starting to tell other upstart operating systems to get off its lawn).
