Microsoft details SkyDrive integration with Windows Phone Mango (video)

We already knew Windows Phone Mango would include SkyDrive functionality , but Microsoft has now released a few more details on some of the cloud storage features we can expect to see when the update rolls out, later this year. With the update, SkyDrive users will be able to share their stored photos via text message, e-mail or IM, and to upload their videos to the cloud with the touch of a button. They’ll also be able to browse, share and edit uploaded MS Office documents directly from their handhelds, while searching through their entire SkyDrive via the Office Hub. Storage limits remain capped at 25GB, though Microsoft says we should expect to see more cloud-based features roll out in the near future (including a revamped, HTML5-based SkyDrive web interface), so more changes may very well be on the horizon. Soar past the break for some demo videos from Redmond, along with a hands-on clip from WinRumors . VideoSurf brings its recognition virtues to Android, expects iOS to follow shortly (video)

If you haven’t heard of VideoSurf before now, you’ll be forgiven. The company has existed for a few years as a web service, but it wasn’t until CES 2011 when it made waves in the mobile arena by demoing its video recognition software for Android. Now it’s ready for prime time in the Android Market , where the free application promises to deliver a Shazam-like experience for movie and television viewers. If you’re not wholly familiar with the process, VideoSurf attempts to identify what you’re watching and who’s on screen after capturing only a few seconds of video. From there, you can follow the rabbit hole and learn more about the actors, find other roles they’ve played, and receive recommendations based on your interests — seems to be what everyone is doing these days. Although there’s nothing for iOS yet, if you watch the video (after the break), you’ll see the company is rather confident about what’s on deck. HTC Mondrian stars in leaked AT&T ad campaign, jump-kicks lesser smartphones? (video)

Would you believe that after months of leaks , this is the first time we’ve allegedly seen the HTC Mondrian ? It’s true — though from this angle, it’s a dead ringer for the Mozart , which looks just like the Shubert , too. The above picture comes from what appear to be a pair of mostly complete ads for AT&T’s Windows Phone 7 push, which if real make the Mondrian look like it might be a flagship device. Perhaps those rumors of a 1.3GHz Snapdragon inside weren’t too far off. You won’t find real phones demonstrated in the videos after the break, but don’t let that stop you from clicking through — you do like watching oblivious folks flying through the air, don’t you? PS3 jailbreak adapted to Nokia N900, Palm Pre in wake of Australian ban (video)

Two weeks ago you’d have to pay an Australian importer for a specialized USB key . Four days ago open-source software let you roll your own . Today, there’s no need for any of that — you can hack your PS3 with a tethered smartphone. Working closely with the PSGroove team, hacker Kakaroto adapted the same jailbreak to the Nokia N900, and the open-source community lost no time porting it to the Palm Pre as well. If the videos after the break are any indication, both versions work just as well as the original, and you too can get your game on with downloads and detailed instructions at the source links below. Sadly, the aforementioned Australian importer OzModChips is a casualty of this little story, with all its shipments of the PS Jailbreak dongle seized (and the item subject to injunction) by an Australian court, but we suppose knowing its product has enabled the hardware hacking community thus might somewhat soften the blow. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in] Continue reading PS3 jailbreak adapted to Nokia N900, Palm Pre in wake of Australian ban (video) PS3 jailbreak adapted to Nokia N900, Palm Pre in wake of Australian ban (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 05 Sep 2010 16:29:00 EST. Updated Windows Phone 7 videos show Office doing awesome things

As much as Microsoft has revealed about Windows Phone 7 thus far in the past two months, one critical, differentiating element that it’s going to be able to lord over its competitors — true Office support — has been a bit of a black box. We’re starting to see a little bit more about the Office team’s next-gen mobile product now, though, thanks to a pair of new videos that have been published this week. The first focuses on the email and calendar experience, but we do see one pretty awesome trick when the demo opens a PowerPoint file inline from the email client, edits it, and sends it back to the original sender. The second video dives deeper on the actual Office hub, where we get a quick look at the Word editor — and as you might expect, it’s squeaky-clean and nearly UI-free, just like pretty much everything else in the platform. Peep the videos after the break.
