Rim
When RIM crafts a CDMA BlackBerry, you can bet — well, usually bet — that it’s destined for both Sprint and Verizon, since there aren’t many other carrier partners anywhere in the world where Waterloo can recoup the R&D costs. We’ve already heard plenty of rumors that Verizon’s signed up to get it in the coming months, and now we’ve got information from none other than RIM itself that Sprint has its eyes on the 8530 successor, too. A knowledge base article on RIM’s site (which has now been pulled, of course) referred to a “Sprint BlackBerry Curve 9330 smartphone,” which pretty much says it all — we suppose it’s possible that the article’s author was just preparing for the possibility that Sprint would be getting it, but we think the more likely scenario is that it was official info that went up a tad early. So, who’s upgrading? BlackBerry Curve 9330’s marriage with Sprint seemingly leaked by RIM originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 22:33:00 EST. It’s felt almost as if the BlackBerry smartphone rumor mill has been a little too quiet — dare we say burnt out — since the Torch hit the scene ( BlackPad notwithstanding, of course). That’s all changed with a pair of interesting leaks care of Boy Genius Report . Behold a successor to the Bold 9700 , the R020. The tri-band UMTS / quad-band EDGE device is gonna disappoint some with the same 624MHz clockspeed and 2.44-inch 480 x 360 screen, but it does have twice the RAM (512MB), a 5 megapixel camera with AF and flash, and of course runs on BlackBerry 6 . If the purported leaked slides are correct, a device of such magnitude should be launching in the October timeframe. Looking to the CDMA side of things — which means likely both Verizon and Sprint — we’ve got a 9670 “Oxford” (at least by codename) flip phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera, 360 x 400 internal display (240 x 320 for the external), usual amenities like WiFi and GPS, and the hip new BB6. No touchscreen on either phones, as far as we can tell, but perhaps that’s a blessing for those that fret smudged screens. We were secretly hoping that RIM’s acquisition of the blackpad.com domain name was nothing more than a joke (or a preventative measure, at worse), but it sure sounds as if that’ll be the name the folks in Waterloo go with come this winter. According to unnamed sources who have unloaded new information to Bloomberg , RIM’s first tablet will actually be “introduced in November,” though there’s no clear indication as to when it’ll ship . Said sources have also stated that the device will sport a 9.7-inch display, inbuilt WiFi and Bluetooth, and a downright comical Blackpad label. We get the Black Berry link and all, but really? Here’s hoping for a last minute change of heart . [Thanks, Simon] RIM’s 9.7-inch Blackpad rumored for November launch — yes, Blackpad originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 30 Jul 2010 12:53:00 EST. While there’s still no ( official ) word on when we’ll get any BlackBerry OS 6 hardware, much less that 9800 Bold , RIM has seen fit to provide us another glimpse at the software front. This time round we’re looking at multimedia features, including the photo gallery, a brand-new podcasts app and YouTube, alongside extra camera controls (including a face detection mode) and roundabout confirmation that at least some new BlackBerries will support pinch-to-zoom . Oddly enough, there’s no video showing off the new multimedia functionality, just a set of stills, but we suppose RIM realizes it’s all been done before and Crackberry addicts will take whatever they can get right now. We’ve already seen what’s purported to be the BlackBerry Curve 9300 out in the wild a few times , but Vietnamese site Mainguyen has now gotten its hands on a unit as well, and given us our most detailed look at the phone yet. That includes a better look at the slightly higher-end elements more reminiscent of the now-discontinued Curve 8900 than the Curve 8500 series it’s apparently replacing, and confirmation of at least a few specs (including a 3.2-megapixel camera). Head on past the break for a video, and hit up the source link below Continue reading BlackBerry Curve 9300 spotted in the wild again, gets examined in-depth BlackBerry Curve 9300 spotted in the wild again, gets examined in-depth originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 20 Jul 2010 21:59:00 EST.
