Nokia X7 with Symbian ‘Anna’ now official on Three UK (Updated)
April 12th, 2011
jedwan So, it’s official. The Nokia X7 , unfit for a US launch , has finally found a home with Three in the UK. The heavily leaked stainless steel handset runs an updated Symbian^3 “Anna” OS that finally introduces a vastly improved browser and portrait QWERTY with split-view data entry among its 50 new enhancements. Rounding out the specs are an 8 megapixel cam with dual-LED flash, 4-inch OLED ClearBlack display, HD video recording, and 256MB RAM / 1GB ROM with an 8GB memory card tossed in the box. You’ll find the press release, video, and more pic after the break. Update : Nokia tells us that the X7 features 720p video recording, and a 680MHz CPU — presumably the same old (and we mean old ) ARM 11 proc and found in the N8 and E7. Oh, and it’s the same Broadcom BCM2727 GPU and 8 megapixel EDoF camera we reviewed in the E7 . The X7 will be available in Q2 with a price set at €380 before taxes and subsidies. [Thanks, Will B.] Continue reading Nokia X7 with Symbian ‘Anna’ now official on Three UK (Updated) Nokia X7 with Symbian ‘Anna’ now official on Three UK (Updated) originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 12 Apr 2011 03:19:00 EST. Free and paid apps for Formula 1 racing fans adding features for the 2011 season
March 27th, 2011
admin We’re just a few hours away from the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season and while the technologically advanced series seriously lagged in adding high definition broadcasting technology, app developers are filling in on the mobile front. This year’s version of the official Formula1.com app is available for the first time on Android (in addition to Blackberry, J2ME and iOS) and has also added push notifications (iOS only so far) to tell you when the race is about to start — convenient for the Australian GP’s 2 a.m. EST start time. If you’re looking for an upgrade as a viewing companion, the F1 2011 Timing App Championship Pass pulls in live stats and indicators of where each racer is on the track, as seen in the iPad version pictured above, and can even pause or replay the info later if you’re watching on DVR. It runs about $30 on the iTunes and Android app stores, check it out at the links below or the press release after the break, or just poke around the app stores yourself for a few other options. Mobilicity launches Samsung C414Y
March 27th, 2011
admin Mobilicity has launched its first Samsung phone: the C414Y. This flip, while not feature rich — and on the low end of the price spectrum — still coughs up a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a 2.2-inch QVGA internal display, 1.3-inch external LCD, and 3G in the AWS realm together with quad-band GSM. Pricing is $109.99 (roughly $112 US) off contract which is still $40 less than Telus ‘ version of the same set. Mobility’s current cell offerings are a bit thin with both the Nexus One and Mobiflip now out of stock, so we’re curious if we’re going to see a slew of new product launches in the near term. Until then, check out the press release after the break.
