HTC ChaCha coming to Phones 4u in the UK, free on contract

Didn’t think the HTC ChaCha’s 2.6-inch screen and dedicated Facebook button were reasons enough to shell out

Xperia Play finally lands at O2 UK, available in black or white

It took a while , but that O2-exclusive (for the UK) white Xperia Play is finally with us. Earlier this month, the UK carrier had promised to deliver the Play in June, but evidently things have gone better than expected, as we now see “in stock” signage next to both the black and white models of Sony Ericsson’s gaming phone. Pricing is identical for both color variants, starting at “free” when attached to expensive (

Xperia Play makes brief appearance at T-Mobile Netherlands, quickly pulled

Soon up for grabs in the land of bicycles, coffee shops and mayonnaise-laden fries, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play — affectionately known as the PlayStation Phone — was recently sighted gracing the storefront at T-Mobile Netherlands. As is the case with subsidized handsets, we spotted that the upfront cost of this elusive one varies based on the rate of your monthly plan and term of commitment. At €25 per month and a one year agreement, for example, this mobile gamer could soon be yours for €269. As if the fusion of old-school PSOne and Gingerbread weren’t tempting enough, T-Mobile is sweetening the deal, offering four months of free internet with the device. The rollout of Xperia Play across Europe has seen a bumpy start , and we’re hoping better luck for T-Mobile users in Holland. Keep checking the source — we’re guessing the doors will reopen soon enough. HP now offering Verizon-branded Palm Pre 2 for zilch on contract

Living within the screwy reality of the subsidized phone world sometimes results in rather comical distortions. Take for example the Palm Pre 2 , now tossed into the freebie bin — along with a whole slew of its best accessories — at HP’s own Wireless Central. Announced just two months ago, HP’s storefront would have you believe its slider is worth $699 with no strings attached — or wait, what? As we do a mental reboot, let’s consider the following: this lovable 1GHz QWERTY handset, still $149 through Verizon , is now free for the taking from HP with your two-year commitment to Big Red. We sense many may hesitate before taking the plunge, as the Palm-branded option felt like a stopgap solution even on launch; still, the Touchstone’s second mate can toss around webOS with ease, and if you prefer the smaller form factor, this is as good as it gets (for now). Droid Pro on sale a little early, shipping now

Verizon’s been all kinds of leaky and loose with its Android lineup lately — the Samsung Continuum was anything but a surprise , the Droid 2 Global is now on sale before even being officially announced , and now the Droid Pro is also on sale well ahead of its scheduled November 18th launch date. Whoops! If you’ll recall, the Pro was only supposed to be up for pre-order now , but it’s actually listed as “add to cart” on Verizon’s site and tipsters have gotten overnight ship confirmations. Sure, we’ll take early delivery of what should be one of Big Red’s hottest phones — but we can’t help but wonder if Verizon’s being this sloppy with device launches right now because it’s focused on nailing the high-profile debut of something around January . Motorola Backflip now on sale at AT&T

Heads-up, kids — AT&T’s first-ever slice of Android is now available. Just let that sink in a minute. Feels good, doesn’t it? Motorola’s Backflip has gone on sale just as promised, and that debatably awesome Blur action can be yours for $99.99 after mail-in rebate and a 2-year agreement. So, you pulling the trigger, or you are you waiting for whatever Dell and / or HTC are bringing to the party? HTC Desire listed for €419 at Amazon’s German portal

Curious as to what HTC will be charging for its Sense-enabled Desire ? If Amazon’s German portal is to be believed, it’ll go for a cool €419 ($572). Of course, the site doesn’t give any indication as to when it’ll actually ship to those that order, but it is clear that Amazon is doing the selling and not some third-party merchant. Just under six Benjamins for a souped-up Nexus One ? You know you’re in for that. Motorola Backflip spotted in the wilds of China

Motorola’s Backflip has yet to springboard itself over to AT&T, but those who call China home can hop on the bandwagon right away. Said phone — which sports a full touchscreen and a physical QWERTY thanks to the horizontal clamshell design — is now available from Moto’s Chinese portal for 4,298 Chinese yuan (in unlocked form), which translates to right around $630. While the rest of the world awaits the phone’s launch later this quarter , you can hit up Mobile.163.com for a downright beautiful gallery of in the wild shots. Go on, it’s safe. We think. Palm’s Pre Plus and Pixi Plus slipping into Best Buy locales everywhere

Officially speaking, the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus still have a weekend ahead of ‘em before they can be sold, but if you know the right person in your local Best Buy, you could very well be playing with one hours before your contemporaries. An anonymous tipster beamed over the image you see above via our handy iPhone app , noting that both of Palm’s first entries onto Verizon’s network were in stock. Granted, neither are for sale per se, but what’s stopping you from moseying on down and giving it a shot? Nothing, that’s what. TomTom feels jolly, temporarily drops price of iPhone GPS app

TomTom has done a respectable job of keeping its iPhone GPS app up to date when compared to formidable options from Navigon and the like, but today it’s making its biggest move yet by way of a significant price drop. We’ve heard directly from the company (and confirmed with our own two peepers) that the US and Canada version of the app is now on sale for $69.99, while a US-only version is currently on sale for just $49.99. If you’ll recall, the former was just selling for $99.99 a few days ago, so if you’re planning on making that fateful trip to grandmother’s house again this year, you might want a robotic gal leading the way. Just sayin’. [Warning: Source link directs to iTunes] TomTom feels jolly, temporarily drops price of iPhone GPS app originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 14 Dec 2009 15:51:00 EST.
