Based on the image here from MobileSyrup, the portrait QWERTY with a glowing blue blemish seems to have been caught with its Telus showing. That’s right over-sharing neighbors to the north, your Android-running, Sense-wearing 2.6 inch touchscreen dreams are closer to reality — we’re just not sure when. While you’re waiting, make sure to double-check the handset’s moniker doesn’t run afoul of any local pejoratives.

We’ve heard nothing but crickets from Sharp in the US after the release of the FX, a snoozer released on AT&T last summer. Nothing fresh has made its way into stores in a very long time — unless you count the Aquos 007SH clamshell that hit the FCC last week — so our interest was piqued after examining a new image that shows off an unnamed QWERTY slider phone from the same company. It reminds us a lot of the FX, actually, except with much smoother edges. We were also intrigued to discover that the mystery handset has a set of standard Android buttons, which would be a welcome upgrade for Sharp. The source responsible for the image mentioned it’s bound for North America and uses 850 / 1900 3G connectivity; if the phone hits the US, the bands indicate it would become the latest addition to AT&T’s Android lineup. We’re sure the Pantech Crossover wouldn’t mind a QWERTY-sliding friend to sit next to.

LG is delivering good news for those affected by random reboots and shutdowns on the Optimus 2X. Today, the company reached out to Engadget and acknowledged the plight of its early adopters. Even better, the manufacturer wants everyone to know it will begin delivering updates in Europe this week, and expects North America to be close behind. In most situations, users will receive the firmware update over-the-air, but this will depend on your carrier and region. After all the hoopla, LG determined these troubles occur when the device is charging, the power button is pressed, or the phone is in standby — which basically means whenever you reach for it. Let’s hope this update filters down to G2x handsets as well. It would seem rather unkind to leave them in the cold, don’t you think?

Acer promised a 4.8-inch, 1024 x 480 tabletphone would arrive in April 2011, and April’s nearly through — but don’t cross off the Acer Iconia Smart yet, because that brushed aluminum frame has just materialized at our favorite government institution. Yes, the FCC laid eyes on radiation test reports for the Android 2.3 device, which reveal that the quad-band GSM handset is headed to both Canada and the US. Given that the North American version only has 850, 1900 and 2100MHz 3G frequencies, it sounds like a lock for AT&T. Inside, you’ll find a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, 512MB each of ROM and RAM, an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, a 2 megapixel front-facing cam, micro-HDMI output capable of 720p, a 1500mAh user-replaceable battery and all the usual 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS trimmings you’d expect. Now, Acer, how about a new release date?
