Greetings LG board viewers,   It has come to my attention that a new LG smartphone is coming to AT&T on this Sunday, April 17, 2011. The name(s) of this new Android-powered smartphone are the LG Phoenix and the LG Thrive. They are basically the exact same phone, except that the Thrive is for prepaid GoPhone customers only (like myself) and the Phoenix is for regular postpaid customers. The Thrive will cost $179.99 on a prepaid account, no contract required. The new Phoenix will cost $49.99 with a qualifying new two-year contract. The Thrive comes in a silver color, and the Phoenix in a dark blue.   The LG Thrive is the first smartphone to be intended for AT&T’s prepaid customers only. However, in order to get a new Thrive, you will now be required to add a prepaid data plan to your account… The plans are $25 for 500MB, $15 for 100MB, and $5 for 10MB. This is the first “forced” data plan for prepaid customers, essentially, not a good thing. But when you look at the bright side, the prepaid data packages have been improved.
