We don’t know if this device is ” super confidential ” or not, but we’ve just come across yet another Nokia N9 lookalike with a non-MeeGo operating system on board. Well, it looks that way, anyhow. There’s no way to verify that the Android homescreen we see above is a legitimate Gingerbread installation and not a mere screenshot (the resolution looks all wrong, for one thing), but the source of this image is the same Chinese fellow that posted a picture of Nokia’s Windows Phone prototype, the Sea Ray , way back in May, so we’re inclined to believe he’s got an inside line on these things. Additionally, the undersized Android UI elements on the screen actually encourage us to believe that this is indeed a Nokia testing device — if we were going to fake something like this, we’d use a regular screen grab for our tomfoolery — and Stephen Elop has openly admitted that Nokia spent a couple of wild seconds contemplating a switch to Android. Well, folks, here’s what that alternate future might have looked like. Samsung D600 leaks out as Conquer 4G, hints at Sprint release
June 15th, 2011
jedwan That Samsung D600 we saw so sketchily detailed in the FCC? It’s back, but this time with a name and face to go with it. Leaks are pinning this one down as the Conquer 4G, an entry-level Android phone that’s possibly headed to the sub-$100 price range. While we find the name to be a bit odd for a device that would likely only ‘conquer’ the market for first-time smartphone buyers, we’re liking the specs for the cost here: 1GHz CPU, 3.1 megapixel rear shooter with low-res front-facing sensor, and WiMax ready to go. Last — and apparently the least — the blas

HTC Inspire Exclusive Red Color
June 4th, 2011
jedwan Looking at the Radio Shack advertisement in the weekly newspaper advertisements, I noticed that Radio Shack is now offering the Inspire in red (sort of like that one HTC phone that Verizon offers/offered – I can’t remember the name). Also along with the red addition of the smartphone at Radio Shack, they are now offering their “lowest advertised price” of $29.99 with a new two-year contract. I know you can get it for $0.01 on amazon.com, but if you’d like to upgrade or begin a new contract, I would say that Radio Shack is the place to go. A Google search brought this up: http://www.phonearena.com/news/HTC-Inspire-4G-is-well-red-at-Radio-Shack_id18831 Right now it looks like a dummy red model, but the Inspire in the ad looks to be a little more darker than the bright red one pictured in the image on phonearena. Anyone interested in RED?
ITC judge rules against Apple in patent infringement case, Kodak smiles
May 13th, 2011
admin The International Trade Commission has weighed in on one half of the ongoing Apple-Kodak legal saga , ruling in favor of the team from Rochester. In a decision handed down yesterday, ITC Judge Robert Rogers determined that Apple’s allegations of patent infringement are unfounded, adding that one of the company’s patents is invalid. At issue are two digital camera technologies owned by Apple. One allows a camera to process multiple photos at the same time, while the other enables users to simultaneously adjust an image’s balance, color and resolution. Apple claimed that Kodak illegally used these mechanisms in its Z-series, M-series, C-series, and Slice cameras, in addition to some video cameras. Judge Rogers clearly disagreed, though he won’t be able to publicly explain his reasoning until both sides have had enough time to review confidential documents. Rogers’ decision will also be subject to review by the full ITC, which is expected to issue a yea or nay on September 19th. A Kodak spokesman said the company is understandably “pleased” by the decision, but it won’t have much time to rest on its laurels. On May 23rd, the ITC will announce a decision in a patent lawsuit that Kodak filed against both Apple and RIM, way back in January 2010. Stay tuned. Latest WP7 Mango leak hints at added Windows Messenger support
May 12th, 2011
admin The upcoming Windows Phone update is looking better with each subsequent leak. What initially appeared to be primarily targeted toward programmers has since begun bearing fruit on the user’s end , a trend continued with this latest unauthorized glimpse. We’re certainly taking it with a few tablespoons of salt — the Mango screens appeared on and were subsequently pulled from Chinese site Cnblogs — but we like what we see. Perhaps most significant among the newly glimpsed features here is integration between WP7′s People hub and Windows Live Messenger, making it possible to IM people directly from the contacts list. Also present, Bing Image Search, support for East Asian languages, and added SkyDrive functionality, which we’ve already seen previewed . No doubt we’ll be hearing more on this very subject in the near future . More info as the story ripens. [Thanks, All] Latest WP7 Mango leak hints at added Windows Messenger support originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 09 May 2011 20:16:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds . Permalink
