Virgin Mobile welcomes 4.1-inch Motorola Triumph, brings Froyo to the prepaid side

Fear not, pay-as-you-go fans — Virgin Mobile saw a hat tip of its own at today’s Sprint / Motorola event in the form of the Triumph, a 4.1-inch Android 2.2 handset that perhaps doesn’t quite live up to it’s hyperbolic name. Virgin Mobile’s first-ever Motorola handset has 2GB of built-in storage, 512MB of RAM, a five megapixel camera, WVGA display, 1400mAh battery, A-GPS, WiFi a Qualcomm MSM8655 CPU and HDMI output. It also comes pre-loaded with Virgin Live 2.0, a musical social networking feature that gives users access to exclusive musical content — not quite the stuff victory laps are made out of, but it’s certainly a welcome addition to the prepaid market. Triumphant press release after the break, which is triumphantly devoid of any pricing / release information. HTC HD7S now available for purchase

Doubted those announcements about the June 5th release date for HTC’s HD7S? Oh, ye of little faith. The Windows Phone 7 handset was made available through AT&T’s website over the weekend, priced at $200 with a two-year contract and $500 without — you can also get it a bit cheaper through Amazon Wireless at $490 without a contract and $100 with. The HD7 successor features a 4.3-inch Super LCD , 16GB of built-in storage, and a five megapixel camera. Before you plunk down that $200 to $500, however, make sure you check out our hands-on with the smartphone from back in March. Keepin’ it real fake: Windows Phone 7 debuts in China

If smartphone platforms are legitimized by a KIRF manufacturer’s tenacity to rip them off, then Windows Phone has truly arrived. Today we’re looking at a larger than life “HTC”-branded knock-off of the Omnia 7 , replete with an 800 x 480 4.8-inch (!) capacitive touchscreen and 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Given the massive size of this phone, there’s plenty of room for features, which include Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS connectivity, along with a five megapixel camera, dual-SIMs and two microSD slots (for up to 32GB storage). Whew. Impressive specs aside, the device comes saddled with Windows Mobile 6.5 — which has been heavily modified to resemble WP7′s tile interface. There’s no word yet on pricing — just ask someone selling phones on a blanket the next time you’re in Shenzhen, okay? Motorola Cliq 2 pictures hit the outside world?

What, you didn’t forget about the Cliq series, did you? The followup to Motorola and T-Mobile’s slider’s been long rumored — we heard a few morsels of information back in September — and now CellPhoneSignal has a few pics of what it claims is the Begonia , aka Cliq 2 (for T-Mobile, naturally). The keyboard here is, well, interesting, to say the least, and there’s also apparently a five megapixel camera on the back. We’re not really sure how our thumbs feel about the layout, but if this is legit, we’d reckon they’ll get to try it out themselves sooner or later. That’s what giant gadget trade shows are for, right? Right. More pictures via the source link. Unlocked GSM Palm Pre 2 to be ‘available direct from HP,’ Gorilla Glass on the front

We’ve been toying with a Palm Pre 2 for a few weeks now, but given that it’s not “final hardware,” we can’t exactly make any firm judgments on the unit itself. Tim Pettitt, product manager for HP Palm, can . In speaking with MarkGuim.tv (and slyly handling a Verizon Pre 2), he not only confirmed that the company was relying on a layer of the famed Gorilla Glass to keep the front as scratch-resistant as possible, but also that the five megapixel camera is capable of capturing a shot every second. More importantly, however, he made clear that it wouldn’t be just the developers nabbing an unlocked GSM Pre 2. According to Tim, that very handset will be “available direct from HP.com,” though he stopped short of saying whether it would support T-Mobile’s AWS 3G band. For AT&T loyalists, however, we’re guessing this may be the best way to nab webOS on the network that’s still rethinking possible. Motorola Defy hitting T-Mobile this holiday season, details to come… on Oprah

Remember that Defy that Motorola outed at the front end of this month? Turns out the Europeans won’t be the only ones seeing it this Christmas, as Moto has just revealed that it’ll be hitting US airwaves exclusively on T-Mobile “in time for the holidays.” You already know the details — a 3.7-inch WVGA scratch-resistant touchpanel, plenty of rigidity, Android 2.1, the ability to withstand dust and water, a five megapixel camera (with flash and auto focus), DLNA support and the outfit’s own Blur interface (despite Jha’s claims that it would fade from view) — but it looks as if you’ll have to wait a tick to find out anything about pricing. How long? Tune into today’s farewell season premiere of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to find out. Yeah… strange. But true! HTC finally throws T-Mobile G2 up on its site, lays out the final specifications

We’ve theoretically had nearly all of these numbers confirmed piece by piece , but there’s something eerily comforting about HTC tossing it all together on a single page for our perusal. As anticipated , the HTC-built T-Mobile G2 will be powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor, and it’ll boast Android 2.2, 4GB of ROM, 512B of RAM, a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen as well as a five megapixel camera with auto focus and flash. There’s also aGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 1300mAh battery, all of which may or may not cause you to drool. Hit the source link if you need to see for yourself. Exclusive: LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series early prototype unveiled (with video!)

Microsoft’s Aaron Woodman just pulled off a little surprise here at The Engadget Show: he brought out LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series pre-production prototype! The QWERTY slider is the first branded Windows Phone 7 Series device the world’s ever seen, and while the hardware and software are both obviously early, we can tell you a few things about it: it’s just a hair thicker than an iPhone or Nexus One, there are dedicated hardware camera, volume, and power buttons in addition to the back, home, and search buttons dictated by Windows Phone 7 Series, and we noticed a five megapixel camera with a flash on the back, along with a headphone jack. Can’t say much apart from that right now, since things are so early and everything is subject to change, but things are certainly moving along. It’s all going down on the show right now — see it on video after the break! Continue reading Exclusive: LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series early prototype unveiled (with video!)
