The Engadget Show – 021: Joystiq’s Chris Grant and Justin McElroy, Babycastles, gadgets, gaming

It’s another episode of The Engadget Show, in which we keep on keepin’ on and give you a taste of what’s to come next week. That’s when the Electronics Entertainment Expo happens, and we just couldn’t keep from going all gaming for this month’s episode. It all starts when Tim and Brian take a look over some of the month’s biggest gadgets, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the iCade . Then, we take a trip down to Babycastles, the indie arcade where the gamers make the games — and the cabinets. After that, Joystiq’s Chris Grant and Justin McElroy join us on the stage to dish up just what’s coming next from Sony. NGP? Wii HD? Project Cafe? Intrigue. It’s a gaming-heavy, genre-busting show this week that you won’t want to mis. So what are you waiting for? Watch it now! The video stream is above, or download the show in HD below! Engadget explains net neutrality — and our full interview with Professor Tim Wu!

Still trying to get up to speed on the whole net neutrality situation? Check out the intro above for a recap of the basics — it ran during the last Engadget Show as part of our interview with Columbia law professor and noted net neutrality advocate Tim Wu. Then, head after the break for both cuts of the interview — the edited piece that aired with the show and the uncut half-hour version. If you’ve got the time we highly recommend the full-flavor edition — it’s seriously interesting stuff, and Tim’s not afraid to speak his mind on one of the most important tech issues of our time. Exclusive: LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series early prototype unveiled (with video!)

Microsoft’s Aaron Woodman just pulled off a little surprise here at The Engadget Show: he brought out LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series pre-production prototype! The QWERTY slider is the first branded Windows Phone 7 Series device the world’s ever seen, and while the hardware and software are both obviously early, we can tell you a few things about it: it’s just a hair thicker than an iPhone or Nexus One, there are dedicated hardware camera, volume, and power buttons in addition to the back, home, and search buttons dictated by Windows Phone 7 Series, and we noticed a five megapixel camera with a flash on the back, along with a headphone jack. Can’t say much apart from that right now, since things are so early and everything is subject to change, but things are certainly moving along. It’s all going down on the show right now — see it on video after the break! Continue reading Exclusive: LG’s Windows Phone 7 Series early prototype unveiled (with video!)
