Apple patent application suggests partial storage of music to speed up streaming

Could Apple’s forthcoming cloud-based music service have a leg up in speed compared to its competitors? It might if a recently published patent application from the company actually pans out. It suggests that just a snippet of the beginning of a song (or movie, for that matter) could be stored locally on a device, and then be synced to the complete version in the cloud, which would let you begin playback “immediately” rather than having to wait for the usual buffering to take place. The patent application also explains that the streaming playback could be adjusted based on the type of communications network, and that there would naturally be various means to authenticate your device and ensure that you actually own the music you’re streaming. Of course, there’s no guarantee that such a system will indeed be a part of Apple’s seemingly imminent streaming service, but the patent application was filed way back in November of 2009, which certainly means it’s had plenty of time to implement it if it chose to. Google announces Android Open Accessory standard, Arduino-based ADK

Google’s really not leaving any stone unturned at IO today — it’s now also announced a brand new Android Open Accessory standard, which promises to effectively be its own version of “Made for iPod.” That means that any accessory designed using the API (which could even be something like an exercise bike) will be compatible with any Android phone or tablet — running at least Android 2.3.4 or 3.1, that is. What’s more, Google is also making a reference hardware design dubbed an “ADK” available to developers and, get this, it’s based on Arduino . Right now, it only includes USB, but Bluetooth support is planned for the future — developers can hit up the link below for the complete details on how to get started with it. HTC Inspire ~ People Tab & Facebook Updates

It seems like my Facebook is not 100% linked for everybody.      When I go into the people tab – everybody is linked.  Everybody’s facebook profile picture is there,  birthdays came over, etc.    However,  it’s hit or miss on some of the other features.   One friend – when I hit the events/updates button,  I can see all her FB posts.  However when I go to gallery, it doesnt bring me her pics.   Another friend is the complete opposite.  Gallery shows all pics,  but nothing in updates????   Some friends neither feature works. Some friends both features work.   What’s the deal??
