Nokia debuts C2-03 at CommunicAsia (video)
June 21st, 2011
admin Nokia’s Mary McDowell announced the company’s third dual-SIM device, the C2-03, at CommunicAsia. It’s a portrait slider with a 320 x 240 touchscreen display paired with the company’s Touch and Type interface. Like the C2-00 , it’s based on S40 and supports Easy Swap — a handy feature that lets users hot swap their SIMs. Additionally, the phone sports a new version of Nokia’s web browser that compresses data up to 90 percent, and Nokia Maps for Series 40 — which provides location search and routing while offline. Amazingly, standby time is rated at a hearty 400 hours, and while the built-in memory is somewhat paltry (10MB), the storage can be expanded up to 32GB. It’s expected to be released in Q3 for €77, and will roll out across India, China, the south-east Asian-Pacific region, Eurasia, the middle east, and Africa. The C2-02, a single-SIM variant will debut alongside the more intriguing sibling, but we know you’re most interested in the dual-SIM darling, so hop past the break for an extended peek. Motorola Droid 3 official in China under Milestone 3 moniker, packs 4-inch qHD display
June 17th, 2011
jedwan The Droid 3 is upon us! Well, it is if you live in China and don’t mind calling it the Milestone 3. A new XT883 model has just been made official by Motorola during China Telecom’s CDMA Summit, touting the tagline “the third Milestone” and a new five-row slideout QWERTY keyboard. The salient specs include a 4-inch touchscreen with qHD (540 x 960) resolution, a dual-core processor capable of driving 1080p video recording, an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, up to 32GB of built-in storage, and of course, Android 2.3 as the shipping OS. A pretty compelling package, we think you’ll agree. It’s coming to China this summer, though Moto could still be crafty enough to squeeze the US launch in before actual units start shipping to Yao Ming’s homeland. Because, well, who’s ever heard of a Milestone coming before a Droid? Fujitsu releases F-022 flip phone for women who like to smell good
June 16th, 2011
admin Because they’re brutish and sweaty, most men don’t have a problem with their phone’s naturally metallic musk, but “20 to 40 year-old women with a well-developed sense of fashion” apparently do. That’s why Fujitsu has announced the F-022 — a glittery flip phone designed for females who demand slightly more from their handheld’s olfactory offerings. Developed in collaboration with Japanese accessory maker Folli Follie, this bejeweled little bauble comes with a “detachable fragrance chip” that allows users to mark their tech territory with the perfume of their choice. Just spray the chip with a dab of your scent, latch it on to the phone, and every conversation you have will end up smelling like roses. The F-022 goes on sale in China on June 24th, but for more information, just follow your nose to the PR, after the break. Nokia brings Symbian^3 to China Mobile, officially announces T7-00 and 702T
June 16th, 2011
admin Though its visits have been few and far between, Nokia has had a presence on China Mobile for many years. The carrier’s never been blessed, however, with any TD-SCDMA devices powered by Symbian^3 — until now. Two new flagship models, known as the T7-00 and 702T, were announced by both companies and slated for Q3 release. If both phones seem oddly familiar, there’s a very good reason why: the T7-00, as we originally speculated , is a variant of the Nokia N8 with a lower-quality 8 megapixel EDoF sensor; the 702T is the TD-SCDMA version of the E6 , though the keyboard has been altered slightly to include larger Function and Ctrl buttons, allowing for easier switching between Chinese and English input. Both phones will be pre-loaded with the Anna update, and could be a big factor in helping Nokia hit its goal of selling 150 million Symbian devices before the OS goes the way of the Dodo . Check out another image after the break. Motorola XT882 bringing Tegra 2, dualing modes and SIMs to China Telecom
June 9th, 2011
jedwan Motorola is aiming to change your perception of dual-SIM phones — typically a hallmark of KIRF and the low-end — with an uncharacteristically high-end creation that features a 1.2GHz Tegra 2 CPU and 4-inch qHD display. Wasting no time with a clever name, the XT882 supports dual-standby that keeps both SIMs alert and ready to receive calls, and — when GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 isn’t an option — it handles CDMA 800. Additionally, the phone sports an 8 megapixel camera that captures 720p video, alongside a dual-LED flash. (A nice finishing touch to the “dual” theme, don’t you think?) The XT882 will arrive at China Telecom this month for 5,380 yuan (approximately $830 if you speak green), and unlike some of Motorola’s finest in the States , this one has Gingerbread. Engadget China scored hands-on time with the Moto, complete with views of its pattern of 8′s on the back side — good fortune for the home crowd. If you’re feeling lucky, follow the break for the PR.
