Google Wallet vending on Nexus S hands-on

We just got done watching the unveil of how Google is going to revolutionize the way you pay for denim shorts at the mall, and we just got to try it in a slightly different way — buying a Coke out of a vending machine. The process is as easy as can be: just select your beverage and, when you’re ready to pay, swipe your phone. In a few seconds out pops your frosty beverage and somewhere Santa Claus laughs merrily. It’s retail bliss and a lot easier than fishing filthy coins out of your skinny jeans. Check out the short video after the break — the break that refreshes. RIM’s BlackBerry Torch 9860 makes blurry video debut

Storm 3? Torch 9860? Touch 9860? Monza? Monaco? The latest all-touchscreen BlackBerry has more names than RIM has leaks, as evidenced by this hands-on video out of Thailand. We’re not sure what the handler’s impressions are of the, as yet, unannounced device (but if you speak Thai, please, feel free to enlighten us in the comments). It seems that 1.2GHz Snapdragon delivers some snappy performance, at least. It’s tough to tell, thanks to predictably out of focus camera work, but it also appears that the Torch 9860 (we’re sticking with that for now) is using Comic Sans. We hope that’s not by default. Vid’s after the break, per usual. Update : A reader pointed us to another video (after the break) of the Torch 9860 in action. Nothing new to reveal, but the quality is much better — and not a trace of Comic Sans in sight! [Thanks, Khalifa] Continue reading RIM’s BlackBerry Torch 9860 makes blurry video debut RIM’s BlackBerry Torch 9860 makes blurry video debut originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 13 Apr 2011 13:59:00 EST. Sprint launches Novatel MiFi 3G / 4G mobile hotspot

This one’s been floating around since way back in December , but Novatel’s new 3G / 4G MiFi has is now finally available from Sprint — albeit only via direct ship, Sprint retail channels will get it on April 17th. It will run you $79.99 on a two-year contract, and comes packing Novatel’s rather novel MiFi OS, which is actually a stripped-down version of LInux that lets you take advantage of various widgets and applications. It’s also GPS enabled, and has a microSD card slot that allows for up to 32GB of shared storage. Full press release is after the break, and you can check out a few early reviews of the device at the more coverage links below. BlackBerry Bold Touch previewed in leaked tutorials: prepare to pinch-to-zoom (updated)

A slew of leaked video tutorials for upcoming BlackBerry devices is finally giving us a glimpse into what RIM has in store to keep its diehard fans from ditching the platform . Among some more video of the all-touchscreen BlackBerry Monaco / Touch , we’re finally seeing how the popular Bold form factor will benefit from some touchscreen magic in the aptly named Bold Touch . We’re longtime fans of the traditional form factor, but if anything, the addition looks to be more trouble than it’s worth. Like its sliding cousin, the Torch , touch input seems even more gimmicky given that all the same functions can be performed using the familiar (and beloved) optical trackpad — which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Sure, touchscreens are all the rage these days and pinch-to-zoom is nice, but we can’t help but wonder if RIM is simply killing time until its dual-core QNX-equipped phones hit unsuspecting BBM’ers. Of course, the company has been impressing us with its use of touch on the Playbook , so there’s no telling what it might have in store come BlackBerry World. You can peep the Monaco action after the break, or check out a torrent of others at the source link as well. [Thanks, Reagan M.] Update: Uh oh, looks like the original Monaco video got yanked, but fret not, as Crackberry has just posted some more clips — we got one of the new ones after the break as well. HTC HD2 gets its very own Windows Phone 7 ROM (video)

While its original OS might be yesterday’s news, the 4.3 inch HTC HD2 with 1GHz Snapdragon processor still has plenty of life in it thanks to the industrious efforts of the global development community. A new Windows Phone 7 ROM has just been released by DFT (Dark Forces Team) for your flashing pleasures. While it’s said to be working at nearly 100 percent, it does come with the caveat of lacking access to any Windows Live services. As such, you won’t be downloading apps or media from Marketplace or setting up your avatar on Xbox Live — pretty serious omissions for a WP7 device. Nevertheless, if you’re an HD2 owner just aching for a taste of Microsoft’s newest OS then now’s your chance. Video of the ROM in action after the break. Update: Well, that was fast. A video and instructions showing hacked access to Live services has now been posted. See the proof after the break. Incipio shows off Game Boy-themed iPhone case and no, you can’t have it

Do you want this Game Boy -themed iPhone 4 case? Well, how does it feel to want? Not all that hot from where we’re sitting, that’s for damn sure. Spotted at Incipio’s CES booth, the company put the case together to demo the company’s production capabilities. Sadly, for us, the thing won’t be coming to market at any time in the near future (unless someone in Shenzhen decides to take on the cause, that is). We must say, this is a big improvement over the company’s iPod nano watch bands — and an immense improvement over the guy who shoved an HTC Aria inside his old Game Boy (throwing in a fake iPhone 4 for good measure). Get another look after the break.
