I think that you were given confusing scoop.

While you are in your inbox, goto:

menu->Tools->Options->

From there you will be given the option to add another account or even delete one that you already have.

Note that if you are using a Windows live account, you may only use one at a time, and also, ActiveSync puch was introduced this week making Windows live irrelevent.  Just get rid of your old email account and utilize ActiveSync, you will love it.

There is another posting here telling you how to set up the ActiveSync settings.  It will bring true push mail to your phone.
