Data Charges

Hello, I’ve had the Fuze for a while now and have never really had issues with unwanted data charges before.  I normally use wifi and do not need a data plan.  I was previously able to block unwanted charges by creating a "Work Network" connection and unchecking the "This network connects to the Internet" box.  This would keep my phone from automatically downloading data, but I was still able to receive MMS messages. Things worked perfectly for months.  As of recently, my phone is always connected and I have been getting charges here and there on my bill.  At first the extra buck or two didn’t matter too much, but this month’s bill shows $31 extra in charges from all hours of the day when I know I am not using the phone.  When I change my settings to not connect to the internet, it will disable for about 5 seconds and will enable again.  Under my connection settings the "this network connects to the internet" box is always checked, even if I try to uncheck it, like something is overriding it that I can’t control.  I have also installed Modaco’s NoData program to disable the internet from connecting automatically and it still remains connected when the program says it is disabled.  I am just looking for a solution to this, I don’t want the permanent data block from AT&T because I still wish receive MMS.  I have also checked all programs on the phone to ensure that none have options selected about automatically updating or connecting to the internet.  If someone could help I’d really appreciate it!

Dell netbook modded into a rather large handset (video)

Eager to get a hold on your very own Dell-branded Android smartphone ? This guy here took matters into his own hands with nothing more than his modding skill, his imagination, and a Dell Inspiron Mini. Of course, this thing won’t exactly fit in most pockets, but as a curiosity (and a conversation starter) it performs admirably. Have you ever seen a 10.1-inch novelty handset in action? Now’s your chance — peep the video for yourself after the break. Picture of Motorola ‘Shadow’ leaked, inverted on Taiwanese forum

While everyone’s gearing up to celebrate New Year’s Eve, it seems that Motorola ‘s busy squeezing out the last bit of rumor juice of 2009. We’re looking at what’s purported to be Motorola’s ‘Shadow’ (not ‘Mirage’ as Google Translate unhelpfully suggests) — a phone with 9mm thickness, 4.3-inch 850×484 screen (larger than the devices on the leaked roadmap ), HDMI port and 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video recording. Not much else came out of the “tight-lipped” tipster who might’ve inverted the picture’s colors — see above for our fix — but an educated guess should point to that friendly green robot (though that battery icon certainly isn’t part of Android’s game). Any brave souls dare to guess otherwise? Picture of Motorola ‘Shadow’ leaked, inverted on Taiwanese forum originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 31 Dec 2009 11:44:00 EST.
